Thank you Barclay, we will never stay at any Econo Lodge ever, that experience shocked and soured our desire to ever patron that establishment.
This motel is ... adequate. It is for the budget conscious traveller who just needs a place to rest for the night before moving on. I stayed for 2 weeks just because they offer a special rate of $49/night if your stay is greater than 1 week. Very basic facilities, no guest laundry room, bagels coffee and orange juice for breakfast, every morning.
1 star is not low enough, and Latino patrons beware because the female manager is racist towards us.
My wife booked 2 nights at this Econo Lodge in Monticello Florida for a meeting she had in Tallahassee, but before she arrived there she received a call letting her know that her meeting had been postponed for the following weekend because of an approaching trpical storm in the gulf. When she arrived at the Econo Lodge she explained the situation to the manager and she said "I can't refund you the first night, but when you check out tomorrow I won't charge you for the second day."
The people who who work here are phenomenal. Kind. Generous. Great people. But for the price. No way. I was told to evacuate Jacksonville Beach and put liquid in the freezer when the power went out from hurricane Irma and it never froze. The crisis was an emergency. But maintenance blew as hard as Irma itself. . Housekeeping was great. But even the T.V. was half screen and remote T.V. was some generic as Walmart. No way to work it. If you pay for the room. Full price for Hurricane Irma. You'd expect to have simple thing's work properly. The people who work here have outstanding performance but like i say. When paying high prices due to hurricane Irma. You'd expect to have thing's work right.
Meh. It's fine if you just need a place to sleep for a few hours. Cheap, easy to get to off the interstate, pretty basic.
My wife stayed the night and in the morning when she barely gets through the front doors the manager shouts "I'm not cancelling your reservation, you stupid spics are gonna learn to pay for what you purchase, plain and simple." My wife was aghast at her words and when she tried to reason with her over the unreasonable charge, the manager continued shouting at her and said "I don't care what you have to say, you either stay for your full reservation or I'll call the Sheriff." My wife stormed out and called Barclay Card (the credit card company) and explained the situation, they told her that location tried running her card 7 times, and told her that they would monitor her card for any fraudulent charges from the Econo Lodge there in Monticello Florida.
My business partner and I stayed over night at the Econo Lodge in Monticello FL, just outside of Tallahassee. Beds and room were clean, WiFi speed was decent. Price was reasonable, good place to stay if you don't want to break the bank.
